Adding an extra $55 to a $220 1/6 figure is going to make people get even pickier about what they buy, or push people out of the hobby entirely. I'm going to flip the f*** out if it applies to statues as well.

From what the article says it will apply to eeeeverything coming out of china now. I've just barely been holding the line with hot toys. This takes affect and I'm totally out.

I'll cut back considerably if it applies to everything. The prices on figures and statues are already high enough. I don't need to pay an extra 25% because some ignorant narcissist doesn't understand how tariffs actually work.

Prices will increase 30% across the board. Watch.

And with state sales tax being nearly 10% here... that’s a 40% increase on all of this mess. Do they really think people are going to be okay with this?

Nope.

Calling it now. Toys will become a niche market again. The good ol’ days are coming to an end.

A brief trade war can restructure existing relations, but going balls deep? This may end up hurting a lot of markets. Or maybe the plan is to force these companies to open factories in America and sell directly to the west, instead of importing.

Chad from Tweeterhead did a video today in which me mentioned the tariffs. He said it went into effect at midnight and he’s already had to write a check for a fee he wasn’t expecting to have to pay. He wants everyone to understand that China is NOT paying the tariffs. Companies like Tweeterhead order products and have to pay the tariff in order to receive their merchandise in the US. Chad said he is going to do his best not to raise prices, but (IMO) 25% is a huge cost to eat just because some douchebag is throwing a tantrum to try to prove what a good businessman he is. Most companies that order $100,000 worth of product and have to pay an extra $25,000 to get that product are going to raise prices accordingly.

I was okay with a little feather rustling, but 25% is beyond unreasonable. And it’s not just the consumer that loses out. They will start spending less, meaning it’s going to hurt the bottomline of many companies. Expect a lot less s*** to get produced as a result.

And as of Today I hereby raise my artwork price by 25% to combat losing $$$ when I need parts from China. Ffs... you want to combat Chinese markets open up business grants for manufacturing. China is still gonna be China and now Hot Toys will be a exclusive thing because Sideshow as a distributor probably going to fold on the market.

Yep. Like I said, this will kill toy collecting in a way. Not completely, but quite a bit. Twenty-five f****** percent is no joke.

And just like that I'm basically going to be cutting back even more than I already have this is just ridiculous.

Thus far no toy related tariffs have gone into effect. It seems tensions have lessened a tiny bit but who knows how long it will last. If we're lucky this game of trade war chicken will continue in a draw and we'll never see an increase in prices.

Prices actually have gone up a bit. Not completely across the board, but I’ve noticed it.

Its prolly going to be like when prices on everything went up some years ago because gas prices skyrocketed and shipping increase had to be covered. Yet when gas plummeted, those product prices still stayed the same...

It's due to hot toys greed or some other excuse. Tariffs arent in affect on toys yet. Otherwise the prices would have gone up by thirty or forty dollars the last month or so.

Agreed. Over the last year hot toys prices have steadily increased to the point where the new base figure is close to two fifty. It won't go down anytime soon.
